The way we think may hinder our ability to achieve weight
loss result. Did you know that weight loss is made easier
with a positive attitude versus a cynical or negative outlook?
Clinical studies conducted in England found men to lose weight
40 percent higher than the female gender.
The researchers deemed the results to be more significant
in men for three reasons. Foremost, men have more lean muscle
which makes losing weight a little easier. Secondly, men are
not prone to dabble in various fad diets like women do; therefore,
they approach weight management program with more of an open-minded
attitude. Lastly, men were found to follow the guidelines
of a diet plan than women.

Just as there are specific actions one may commit to sabotage
a diet, there are a variety of negative mind-sets that hinder
it. Review the following dieting attitude flounders.
- The misconception that being overweight is a personality
trait
- Views physical activity or fitness as a chore versus a way
of life
- The perception that a person’s body fat is a genetic destiny
- Convincing one self that they have the inability to get
into shape
- Focusing on all of one’s unappealing attributes
- Deeming prescriptions, magic weight loss potions and powders
as the quick-fix for weight loss
- Thinking in negative thought processes that weight loss
will NEVER be achieved
- Rationalizing reasons to break a diet
- Failure to identify exercise as a vital part of their weight
loss program
- Copping out and resigning oneself that being overweight
is inevitable
- Is in denial or pretends to be on a diet by purchasing snacks
for other members of the household when in reality the dieter
consumes the treats for themselves
